We are the essential workers for a democratic UFCW
We are a coalition of local union leaders, rank-and-file members, and yet-to-be organized workers. We believe the UFCW must be accountable to its membership and build real power for workers in all essential industries, including grocery, retail, cannabis, packing and processing, and healthcare. The purpose of any union is to build collective worker power to improve safety, wages and working conditions, and amplify the voices of workers in their workplaces and communities. But income inequality is growing and attacks on workers trying to organize a union are commonplace. We want to build a UFCW to meet this historic moment and bring new members into our union by the thousands. We are in a fight for our future.
While other international unions have had democratic reforms, the UFCW has NO process for one member, one vote for officers and has a board that can be made up of half international union staff with NO rank- and-file board members. Members deserve a UFCW International that answers to them. Members deserve the right to vote on the direction of their union
How Do I Know If My Delegates Voted For The Important Reform Proposals?
If you know your local UFCW union and their local number, you can check this page below to see how their delegates voted at the international convention this year. If you are new to UFCW and unsure of which local you are in, you can click on the tab at the top of the page called “Your Locals” and you can click on each UFCW local in California based on what city they are in, that should help you find which local you are in. On each page, you’ll find the list of delegates sent to the 2023 International Convention and you will see an extracted list from the website below telling you if that local voted for the reform measures or not. Each list also has a description of each reform measure such as 1 Member 1 Vote, 1st Day Strike Pay, 20% dedicated budget to organizing at International, rank and file on international board, and other reforms.
